As the 2024-25 school year comes to a close, the Foundation board is already hard at work planning the 6th Annual OneRun for DMPS. The heart of OneRun will be what you have come to know and love, but we have several “new and improved” changes in the works!

What is OneRun?

OneRun is an annual “fun run” (and walk!) hosted by the Des Moines Public Schools Foundation, and is the only DMPS District-wide fundraiser. Participants register for free, and can pick one PreK-8 school to represent. Meanwhile, generous businesses and individuals donate funds to support the OneRun event.

On race day, each person who shows up for OneRun diverts a portion of the total amount raised towards their designated school. This keeps OneRun an event for everyone, and funnels much needed funds to our Preschools, Elementaries and Middle Schools.

The annual event began in 2019, and since then, the Foundation has raised and distributed more than $155,000 to Des Moines elementary and middle schools. We look forward to another successful (and record breaking!) event in 2025 — check out some of the new and improved details below.

Mark your calendar to save the date for OneRun 2025:

Date: Saturday, October 18th, 2025

Time: Check-in between 9:00 – 9:45 AM, with the race starting at 10:00 AM

Where: Water Works Park (like last year!)

New Registration & Check-in

The Foundation is now partnering with RunSignUp to offer a seamless registration process for OneRun. This should also make the check-in process quick and easy! As always, there is no cost for anyone to register or participate. Registration is now open!

New Post-race Activities

When OneRun is done, make plans to stick around afterward for fun, kid-friendly games and activities while connecting with other families at your school and in DMPS. Keep an eye out for more details to come on the post-race plans!

Donate to OneRun

Corporate and individual sponsors fund OneRun so that anyone can participate! Registration will always be free, but if you or your company would like to sponsor OneRun, at any level, donations are tax-deductible and always welcome.
